Downhill Demesne & Mussenden Temple (NT), 1m W of Castlerock and 5m W of Coleraine. Temple: open April, May, June & September: Saturday & Sunday & Bank Holiday 12-6pm. Grounds: open all year, dawn till dusk. Entry free; picnics welcome; dogs on leads only

Disabled paths through gardens; cars may be taken to Bishop's gate.

A landscaped estate laid out in the 18th century by the energetic Earl Bishop, Frederick Hervey, Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry. The estate includes Mussenden Temple perched on the cliff, ruins of his palatial house, family memorials, gardens, fish pond, woodland and cliff walks, as well as panoramic views of Ireland's north coast.
