Birthplace and childhood home of David Herbert Lawrence (better known as D.H. Lawrence) born on the 11th September 1885 in a tiny terraced house in the former mining town of Eastwood. The home is now a museum. An English novelist, poet, playwright, essayist, literary critic and painter, Lawrence's collected works represent, among other things, an extended reflection upon the dehumanising effects of modernity and industrialisation.
