The largest island in Poole Harbour, about 1 mile long and nearly I mile wide and is mainly wooded with some open spaces and lovely beach.
The island is partly a nature reserve, but there are many species who think the whole island is home including peacocks, pheasant, red squirrels and wild geese. The daffodils and rhododendrons are spectacular when in season.
The island has a castle, a church and cottages.
The church built in 1853 has a splendid 16th century Italian well-head in its yard.
