Dermot MacCarthy tried talking his way out of handing Blarney Castle to Queen Elizabeth I, until she was said to say˜I will hear no more of this Blarney talk', and a new expression was added to the English language.
The castle was added to in 1446 by Cormac MacCarthy.
The massive four-storey keep was once used as a prison for the Protestants of Cork.
