From this battlefield the Scots 'sent them homeward to think again', when Edward II's English army was soundly defeated by King Robert the Bruce in June 1314.

The Bannockburn Heritage centre is situated at one of the most important historic sites in Scotland.

A few yards from the Centre is the famous Borestone site which by tradition was Bruce's command post before the battle.

This site is enclosed by the Rotunda focusing on the approach route of the English army to its objective - Stirling Castle. The Rotunda was inaugurated by Her Majesty the Queen in June 1964, when she also unveiled the equestrian statue of Bruce by Pilkington Jackson which was presented to the Trust.
